Since October 1st, 2021, US Together’s offices in Columbus, Cleveland, and Toledo, have resettled over 400 refugees, more than half from Afghanistan alone. UST staff has been working tirelessly to support newly arrived refugees in their integration process, but we need your help.

On October 8th, President Biden raised the refugee admissions ceiling in the United States to 125,000 people. The ceiling was previously 15,000 under the Trump administration. Local resettlement agencies from all over the country were forced to quickly rebuild capacity to serve thousands of refugees from various countries such as Afghanistan. US Together rose to this challenge by resettling hundreds of refugees all over Ohio, with plans to resettle hundreds of more cases in the upcoming months. We could not have done it without the support of volunteers, community partners, and donors from each city we serve.

To continue providing life-saving services to as many refugees as possible, we need the continued support of our community. Consider donating to your local US Together office between March 7th and April 26th, and ensure that our staff has the essential resources they need to serve the newest members of our community.

Over the next several weeks, US Together will be sharing the resettlement process, from the time a refugee’s flight lands in the United States until they reach ultimate self-sufficiency through the various US Together programming. We’ll have insights from UST staff and volunteers to show just how important and complex refugee resettlement can be. Our fundraising efforts will culminate with a two-week-long virtual auction of “baskets from around the world,” featuring baskets containing different snacks and goods from local ethnic grocery stores. Stay tuned for more information on how to participate!

Lastly, we would like to extend a huge thank you to our incredible supporters during this pivotal and historic moment in refugee resettlement.
